This Convention shall enter into force on the first day of the month following the expiration of six months after the date of the deposit of the tenth instrument of ratification or accession. 2. Accession is not ratification. A state accedes to a treaty it never signed, so there is no signature date to show and none is missing. The two are often written as though interchangeable; the record does not treat them that way, so neither does this page.
Where this sits
- 26 in order of becoming party
- 30 states bound in total
- New treaty adopted
Order is by the date the depositary records, and states that became bound on the same day share a position — eleven states became party to the Charter on 24 October 1945 and none of them was eleventh.
